THE COMMERCE INDUSTRIAL COUNCIL INVITES ALL CHAMBER MEMBERS, THE LOCAL BUSINESS COMMUNITY, AND RESIDENTS TO A CANDIDATES’ FORUM FOR THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL RECALL ELECTION

Forum to be Held for Upcoming November 4, 2008, Election

The Commerce Industrial Council Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the League of Women Voters of Los Angeles County, invites the Commerce business community, its membership, and all residents to a Candidates’ Forum to inform them about candidate positions on issues of interest as it relates to Special Municipal Election to be held concurrently with the Presidential General Election.

Chamber Executive Director Eddie D. Tafoya announced that for the first time in the history of the City’s existence, the City of Commerce will record and televise the forum via a delayed broadcast.  “The overall goal of the candidates’ forum is to educate and inform our voters,” said Tafoya.  “What we also want to encourage is participation from the business community so they know where current and potential City leaders stand on the issues of relevance and importance to business.  Many entities in the community look to the Chamber as a source for political knowledge.  This candidates’ forum allows us to showcase all of the candidates, and allows the public to decide who they want on the City Council,” added Tafoya.

All city council candidates have been invited to attend and will respond to questions provided by the business community and our residents.
