City of Commerce Celebrates 50 Years!
Poncho Sanchez Headlines Commerce 50th Birthday Celebration
Grammy award winning artist Poncho Sanchez and his Latin Jazz Band is set to perform at the City of Commerce 50th Birthday Celebration, Sunday, Jan. 24, at Rosewood Park, 5600 Harbor St., Commerce.
The celebration takes place from noon to 4 p.m. and will also feature a Walk Down Memory Lane memorabilia display, the state of the city address, a cake-cutting ceremony, free kiddy rides, children’s games, free refreshments and prizes.
Sanchez will headline the showcase of Latin music artists which will include performances by Mariachi Divas and Suave.
The City Council along with Miss Commerce Leilani Davis will cut the City birthday cake to begin the event.
The Commerce 50th Birthday Celebration kicks off a year-long tribute to the Model City. Part of the festivities planned includes the unveiling of 50th Birthday Commemorative street light banners which will be displayed along major City streets. The banners were generously funded with contributions from Commerce businesses including Citadel Outlets, Unified Grocers, Transtech and the Commerce Casino.
This year residents will also receive a 50th birthday commemorative pin as a City birthday gift.
