Chamber Dues Deductible as a Business Expense
The Chamber reminds members in good standing that 93% of their membership dues investment is deductible as a business expense. Chamber dues are not tax deductible as a charitable contribution for federal income tax purposes, but may be deductible as ordinary and necessary business expense. Based on changes in federal taxes that took effect January 1, 1994, chambers of commerce must inform members that the portion of their membership dollars directly attributed to lobbying and influencing legislative or administrative action is not deductible as a business expense for tax purposes. CIC Chamber dues invoices include a statement that 93% of dues is deductible.
